What changes
A roof does most of its work between late morning and mid afternoon, which for a lot of households is precisely the stretch of the day when the house is empty. A battery holds that electricity back until the evening, when the oven is on, the kettle is on, and the unit rate is at its worst.
That is the whole idea. More of what you use is electricity you made, and less of it arrives on a bill.
What that is worth to you turns on your roof's pitch and shading, how much electricity you get through and what you currently pay per unit. Your surveyor works the figure out after the survey and shows you the assumptions behind it.

Scaffolding, bird protection, the handover pack and the grid connection paperwork are all included, with 0% VAT applied. Your own figure depends on your roof, its condition and how much electricity you use, and we fix it in writing after a free survey.

The inverter
A hybrid inverter, usually in the loft on the gable wall, sized so a battery can be added later without replacing it. The access comes down at this point, because the roof work is finished.

The battery
Wall mounted in a garage, utility or plant space, with the cable run to the inverter kept as short as the building allows. Position is confirmed at survey. This is what carries the house overnight and charges on a cheap night rate.

Air conditioning
Reversible air conditioning cools in summer and heats in winter. Fit it alongside solar and it draws on electricity your roof made, in the very months the roof is making most of it.
